ALEXANDER, THEODORE BENJAMIN (January 26, 1954 - November 23, 1989) -- We were saddened to learn of the death of Theodore Alexander last November. Theodore was the son of Mrs. Ozie Alexander and the late Benjamin Alexander, and the grandson of Mrs. Nannie Telafare. Funeral services were held on November 29, 1989, at Lincoln Memorial Chapel in Atlanta, Georgia. The late Rev. Dr. Ralph David Abernathy officiated and read the eulogy.

BAKON, JR., FRANK -- Frank Bakon, Jr., was funeralized on Sept. 9, 2000 at the Pineview Baptist Church in Crawford County GA. Mr. Backon was the husband of Josie Garrett Bakon, and son-in-law of Mrs. Annie Lee Oxford. Mr. Bakon was born in Crawford County on May 2, 1944. He attended the Crawford County Training School in Roberta GA. He later attended Muscogee Area Vocational Technical School in Columbus GA to become an electrician. After moving to Mass., he attended the Boston Evening Trade School to earn his Masters Electrician'’ license. In addition to operating his own electrician business, he was a 30 year employee of the Polaroid Corp. as an electrician.

Mr. Bakon was a member of the Concord Baptist Church, and was a much decorated Prince Hall Mason. He attained the Mason's highest rank—"Worshipful Master." He and Josie were married in 1995. The couple lived in Dochester MA at the time of his death.

BENFORD, SR., BROOKS, A. - (November 12, 1934 -December 11, 2007)--  “Mr. Brooks” was the brother of Tina Mac-Donald, “lady friend” of L’Overture Carter.  He died on December 11, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his family.  He was born November 12, 1934 in Bristol, Conn to the late Olivia Williams Benford and Dave Benford.  He grew up in Hartford.  At a young age he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for 22 years.  After retiring he worked for Pratt & Whitney for 17 years.  Mr. Benford was a life member, and a past-treasurer, of the Greater Hartford NAACP.  He was a member, and past-financial officer and Commander, of the American Legion McKinney King Post 142. 

He was pre-deceased by his wife Christine Strong Benford, a son Michael, a brother David, and a sister Bette Stellmacher.   He leaves to mourn a son Benford, Jr., of Russell, MA., a daughter Mika Benford of Hartford, a grandson Brooks III of Middleton, CT., best friend Bernard Benford of San Diago, CA., and a sister Tina MacDonald of Bloomfield, CT.

 

The funeral was held at Amistad UCC (Elmwood Community Church).  Burial was in Hampton, VA

CARTER, FLETA JAMES – Fleta James Carter, wife of Loverture Carter, died on November 21, 1992. Sister Fleta was the fourth gilrl and the sixth child born to Rufus and Eliza James. She was born and raised in Plains, Georgia and went to the public schools there. She moved to Hartford Conn. in the early 1940s. There she joined Bethel AME Church where she bacame a member of the choir and served as a stewardess. She graduated from the Adult High School of Hartford and the Connecticut Institute of Hairdressing. Fleta and Loverture Carter were married on July 15, 1950. The couple had one daughter—Renee.

Sister was survived by her husband—Loverture, her daughter—Renee; son in law—Elder Terry;three grandchildren, Juanita, Tiffany and Terry II , all of East Hartford; three sisters, Odie Butler, Ethel Horne, and Eddie R. Smith of Bloomfield CT.; three brothers Rufus and Walter of Philadelphia, and George James of Bridgeport, CT.

CARTER, MAJOR WADE (1907–1999) -- Major Wade Carter, father of L'Overture, Reggie, and Robert Carter, died on January 29, 1999. Mr. Carter was a resident of Bronx, New York. Born in Americus, Georgia to Brantley and Winnie Carter, Mr. Carter left Georgia in 1921 and migrated to Jacksonville, Florida; Newark,N.J.; New York City, and eventually to the Bronx where he was a resident at the time of his death.

For over 20 years, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was also a former employee of the City of New York's Spofford Juvenile Detention Center. He was a Deacon in his church, The Greater Faith Baptist Church of the Bronx. His body was interred at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.

CARTER, OZIE BELL (February 2, 1906 – December 9, 1971) – Mrs. Ozie Bell Carter was the daughter of the late Mance and Sarah Ann Oxford. She was born February 2, 1906 in Terrell County, Parrott, Georgia. At an early age Mrs. Carter was converted and joined Macedonia Baptist Church (Parrott, GA) under the late Pastor Vicks. She was married to Major Wade Carter, of Americus, Georgia. To this union was born three sons [Loverture, Reggie, and Robert Carter]. The family lived in New York and New Jersey for several years. Later she returned to Parrott and continued to rear her children and do missionary work.

Moving to Atlanta and associating with several churches, she accepted the Seventh-Day Adventist doctrine. The soon coming of Jesus became her blessed hope. After a short time she moved to Hartford, Connecticut and entered the Colporteur work, she was very successful. Later she returned to Atlanta and became a full time Literature Evangelist. Carrying the message and doing for others was the joy of her life. In this work she made many friends and influenced many souls to seek the lord. She was faithful until her health failed.

Mrs Carter departed this life, December 9, 1971. She is survived by: Three sons and daughter-in-laws, Sge. & Mrs Reginald Carter, Mr. & Mrs. Louverture Carter, Mrs. & Mrs. Robert Carter; three sisters, Mrs. Nannie M. Telafare, Mrs.Martha Oxford, Mrs.Arie Fordham; three brothers, Mr. Dock Oxford, Mr. Otis Oxford, Mr. Velma Oxford; eleven grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.

[Her services were held on December 13, 1971 at the Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Atlanta GA, Elder G. Herfin Taylor, pastor. Interment was at Lincoln Cemetery.]

CARTER, REGINALD  - (January 17, 1931  - February 26, 2008) --  Mr. Reginald Carter, Sr. was born January 17, 1931 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the parentage of Mr. Major Wade Carter and Ozie B. Oxford Carter.  Reginald was the second of three sons born to this union.  He was an active, dedicated leader, and Chairman of the Deacon Board of the New Providence Baptist Church, Reynolds, Georgia.

 

He spent his early years in Parrot, Georgia where he attended the public school.  During his teenage years, he returned to Atlanta, where he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.  He served his country by enlisting in the United States Army in 1948.  In over twenty years of service, he served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, earning one Silver and two Bronze Stars.  Having traveled the world, he retired in Fort Sill, Oklahoma with the rank of Master Sergeant.  Upon retirement, he taught high school for over eight years in the Fulton County School System. In 1979, he earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from The Fort Valley State College, Fort Valley, Georgia.  For several years, he was a sales associate with United Family Life Insurance.  He furthered his educational endeavors completing coursework and becoming a correctional officer.  Reginald was the owner of R&N Bail Bonding Company of Butler, Georgia.

         

His civic and community involvement included: Previous Member and Chairman of the Taylor County Board of Education; Commander American Legion Post 196; member of the Flint River Technical College Literacy Council; Taylor County NAACP; the Taylor County Tax Assessor Board; the Fort Valley State University National Alumni Association, Inc.; and Trustee of Second Flint River Missionary Baptist Association Center.  His demise came on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Augusta, GA.

         

His home going services were held on March 2, 2008, at the Taylor County High School Auditorium.  Rev. Weaver L. Smith officiated.  At his home going services reflections on his life were given by the Honorable Sanford Bishop, U.S. Congressman; Mr. Jeff Watson, Sheriff of Taylor County; Mr. Wayne Smith Superintendent, Taylor County Schools; Mr. Charles Robinson, Ft. Valley State College Alumni Assoc.; and Commander McKinney American Legion Post District #3.

         

Reginald Carter, Sr. leaves a legacy of memories.  Those who cherish his memory are: a devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Naomi Carter, Butler, GA; Five children: Charlene Carter, Kathleen, GA; Cynthia Y. Carter, Montezuma, GA; Reginald Carter, Jr. (Jessie) Butler, GA; Gwen C. Jenkins, Butler, GA; and Calvin (Avondale) Carter, Centerville, GA; eight grandchildren; Demetrius M. (Shannon) Smith, Katrina N. Carter, L. Larone (Shakeerah) Wonnum, Kayla N. Carter, Corlin Carter, Reginald Carter, III, Amanzie Jenkins, Jr., and Kayce Roach. Six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Loverture (Tina) Carter, Hartford, CT; Robert (Winfred) Carter, who preceded him in death, Bloomfield, CT, Walyne Gamble, Bronx, NY; Jacqueline Pollitt, Bronx, NY; Leonard Davis, Bronx, NY; Toussaint Carter, Miami, FL; Nannette (Charles) Lewis, Richmond, VA; Kenyatta (Bernadette) Carter, Los Lunas, NM; Marjora (James) Chase, Bronx, NY; Two sisters-in-law, Rozena (Wilbert) Beagles and Pearline Carter of Butler, GA. One brother-in-law, Charles B. (Mildred) Carter, Detroit, MI; one aunt, Marie Carter of Jacksonville, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

         

Mr. Carter was buried in the West End Cemetery, Butler, Georgia with full military honors.

 

CARTER, ROBERT  (May 26, 1933 - September 14, 2007) -  Bob Carter, 74, of Bloomfield, CT, departed this life on Friday, (September 14, 2007) at Saint Francis Hospital after a brief illness.  Born May 26, 1933 in New York City to the late Ozie B. (Oxford) Carter and Major W. Carter, he grew up in Parrot (Dawson County) Georgia under the guidance of his grandparents, the late Mance and Sarah (Shepherd) Oxford and was baptized at the Macedonia Baptist Church.  Later, he settled in Hartford, CT., where he became a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, worked, married and raised his family. 

 

He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and retired in 1991 from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford after more than 31 years of service.  He was a member of the Esquire Club of Hartford, Inc., for 45 years.  Dad was a beloved farther and grandfather; an avid fisherman and good friend. 

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Winifred Carter of Bloomfield; his children: John and Callye (Burks) Holmes of Douglasville, GA, Reginald and Helena (Dempsey) Carter of Marion, MA, Anthony Carter and Eugenia (McGrier) Carter of Detroit, MI., Sandra Carter Brown, Robert Michael Carter and Steven Brown of Bloomfield; brothers and sister-in-law Loverture Carter of Bloomfield and Reginald Sr. and Naomi Carter of Butler, GA., eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He also leaves a large extended family of relatives and friends who will miss him and cherish his memory forever.  We thank Rev. Charles E. Turner, the First Shiloh Church family and the staff of Saint Frances Hospital and Medical Center for the compassionate care provided to dad and our family during his illness.

CLAY, ALMER -- Mr. Almer Clay died on June 23, 2000 at Palmyra Park Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Mr. Clay was the father-in-law of Mrs. Mary Ann Clay of Sasser, Georgia. (The following was excerpted from the funeral program).

Almer Clay was born on August 8, 1907 to the late Ellis and Addie Mae Clay. He attended the public schools of Terrell County, Georgia. At an early age he joined the Countyline Baptist Church in Sasser, Georgia, where he served as a faithful member. He was a retired farmer, a devoted husband and a dedicated father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Tempia Johnson Clay; one brother, Willie Frank; five daughters, Susie, Marie, Ann, Ruth, and Laura; one daughter preceded him in death; five sons, Arthur Lee, Willie, Sammie, Jimmy, and Almer Jr.; four sisters-in-law, Vera Clay, Lillie Ruth, Pinkie Davis and Marie Johson; four sons-in-law, Wyley Conic, Sr., Eugene, Dennis and Hiawathia; three daughters-in-law, Mary Ann, Doretha and Laura; forty-five grandchildren, sixty-three great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

COLLINS, GERRY DEON -- The entire Oxford clan mourns the tragic and untimely death of Gerry Deon Collins (pictured above), the husband of Katrina N. Carter. (Katrina is the daughter of Charlene Carter and granddaughter of Reggie and Naomi Carter). In addition to Katrina and their two young children--Darius and Jasmine, Gerry leaves to mourn, his parents; two sisters; three brothers; and a host of other relatives.

The Carter family was all set to attend the Oxford family reunion when they learned of Gerry Deon's tragic and accidental death. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Carter and Collins families. They should take comfort in knowing that the God that has brought us thus far will sustain them.

COOPER, ANTHONY TERRANCE -- Anthony Terrence Cooper was born on April 26, 1975 to the late Betty Louise Cooper and Wallace Myers in Terrell County, GA.  A native of Dawson, GA, he was educated in the Terrell County School System where he graduated in the class of 1994 from Terrell Middle-High School, Dawson, GA. At an early age, he joined the Sardis Missionary Baptist Church in Dawson, GA. He was once employed with Tyson as a QSI.

         

“Ant” as he affectionately called by all who knew and loved him, lived a full and joyous life and cherished his children.

On Saturday, July 29, 2006, the Lord called him home.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, the late Luther Cooper, Sr., and two uncles, the late Terry Cooper and the late Larry Cooper. 

        

Anthony leaves to cherish his precious memories three loving children, Meosha Cooper of Atlanta, GA; Devontae and Jaquand Bell, both of Parrott, GA; his loving and caring grandmother, who reared him from a small child, Louise Cooper of Dawson, GA; a loving father, Wallace Myers of Dawson, GA; a loving sister, Thaches Clark (Nard) of Dawson, GA; three brothers, Levin Myers (Marneshia) of Dawson, GA; Garry and Derric Myers, both of Dawson, GA; a caring grandmother, Arcolia O. Myers of Sasser, GA; three loving aunts, Diann Bell (Greg) of Dawson, GA; Patricia Scott (Willie) of Bronwood, GA; and Essie Bradley (McKinley) of Sasser, GA; ten uncles, three of whom he was very close to, Luther Cooper (Sharon) of Shellman, GA; Timothy Cooper (Joyce) of Dawson, GA; and Ronnie Cooper of Dawson, GA; one nephew, Deonta Jordan of Dawson, GA; one niece, Cierra Harvey of Dawson, GA; two great uncles, William Jordan of Dawson, GA; and Earl Jordan (Ora Mae) of Ft. Louderdale, FL; two great aunts, Doris Brown (J.D.) of Cincinnati, OH; and Clara Johnson (Lonnie) of Hollywood, FL; a close friend, Corey Lowe of Dawson, GA; and a very special friend, Latoya Bell of Parrott, GA; and a host of cousins and many sorrowing friends.”

        

“Home going” services were held on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Sardis Memorial Baptist Church, Dawson, GA.  The body was interred at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson, GA.

 

DOZIER, JANIE MAE JEFFERSON (March 11, 22 –March 31, 2004) -- Janie Jefferson Dozier was born March 11, 1922 to Julius and Carrie Mae Jefferson in Terrell County , Georgia .  She had one sister, Frankie Jefferson (predeceased her) and a brother, James Lloyd.

At an early age the family moved to Jacksonville , Florida where she received her education  As a youngster, she joined Beulah Baptist Church .  In later years she joined Emmanuel Baptist Church , Reverend Solomon L. Badger was the pastor.  She met and married Mr. Clarence E. Dozier.  They were married for 54 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband, Clarence E. Dozier; a brother, James Lloyd; three nieces, Jacquelin Stewart, Norma (Willie) Roberts, Natasha McKeiver; three nephews, Ronald L. Baker, Darryl (Beverly) Lloyd, and Elvin (Dorothy) Mitchell; many cousins, including Bertha (Earle) Richardson, Evelyn Johnson, Dorothy Murray, Angela Brown, Gwendolyn (Archie) Gibbs, Etta M. Edwards, Annette (Frank) James, Edward (Lillie) Smith; manyfriends, including those in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.  Funeral services were held at Northside Chapel, Marion Graham Mortuaries, Jacksonville , Florida .  Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park

FORDHAM-JACKSON, ARIE D. (1919-1987) – Mrs. Arie D. Fordham Jackson, daughter of the late Mance and Sarah Shepherd Oxford was born on January 25, 1919 in Parrott, Georgia. Mrs. Jackson moved to Orlando, Florida in 1940. She was married to the late Johnnie Jackson. She was a member of Our Savior Luther Church, in Orlando, Florida, the Reverend Samuel Hoard pastor. She was confirmed in 1969 and a member of the Lutheran Bible class. Mrs. Jackson was a devoted mother of five children. On Monday, May 4, 1987, she departed this life.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Monroe Fordham and wife Freddie Mae of Buffalo, New York, Lawrence Fordham and wife Jeanne, and Mancefield Fordham and wife Elaine all of Orlando, Florida; two daughters, Vera Thomas and Husband Bobby, and Evelyn Williams and husband Russell all of Orlando, Florida; two sisters, Nannie Mae Telefair of Atlanta, Georgia and Martha Oxford of Hartford, Connecticut; one sister-in-law Mrs. Rosetta Oxford of Orlando, Florida; sisteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando, Florida.

FORDHAM, JEANNE MARIE (1955-2005) - “On November 4, 1955, God loaned an angel to John and Stroma Pollard.  Jeanne blessed the world with close to fifty years of charity and cheer.   Jeanne Fordham served the Orange County Health Department for twenty-four years as a clerical supervisor.   She blessed the Independent Free Methodist Council as, Secretary of the Board, and Treasurer of the Missionary Society.  At the same time she served her own church as Treasurer.  She raised two beautiful children, Andre and Andrea to be strong loving human beings just as she was.

She continued a long friendship with her ex husband Lawrence Fordham.  On October 14, 2005, the Lord looked down on His angel and said “well done thy good and faithful servant,” and then called His angel home.  He stood at the gates with her wings in His hands.

 

She leaves a loving mother, Stroma Pollard, Apopka, Fl; Two sisters Alfrieda Pollard and Juanita Sapp, Orlando; brother Ronald Pollard (Sophia), Orlando; son Andre Apopka; daughter, Andrea, Altamonte Springs; two grandchildren, Haley and D’Andre; four nephews, three nieces, and a host of great nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.”

 

Her homegoing services were held at Macedonia Independent Free Methodist Church, Apopka, FL. 

 

Interment: Memorial Cementery, Apopka, FL.”

 

GOODMAN, AGGIE, SR. -- Mr. Aggie Goodman, Sr., son of the late Ransom Goodman and the late Mrs. Martha Jacob Goodman, was born June 6, 1903 in Telmore , Georgia .  He received his education in the Spring Hill Elementary School in Coffee County .  In 1929 he was joined in Holy wedlock to Miss Truly Shepherd and to this union twelve children were born;two preceded him in death.  Mr. Goodman departed this life on Dec. 7, 1985 at the Talmadge Memorial Hospital in Augusta , Georgia , following an extended illness.             

He is survived by: his devoted wife, Mrs. Truly Shepherd Goodman; three sons, Mr. Aggie Goodman, Jr., of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mr. Raymond Goodman, of Orlando, Florida, and Mr. Johnny Goodman, of Detroit, Michigan; seven daughters, Ms. Louise Graves, of Rockledge, Florida, Ms. Susie Osborn, of Griffin, Georgia, Mrs. Nadine Pope, Mrs. Juanita White, Mrs. Lurlyne Smith, Mrs. Jurell Brockington, and Mrs. Shirley Jordan, all of Douglas, Georgia; four sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, thirty nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Ms. Joan Harper; one devoted cousin, Mr. Azell Goodman; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.

GOODMAN, JOHNNY LEE. --  Mr. Johnny Lee Goodman was born on July 5, 1950 to the late Aggie and Truly Goodman in Coffee County, Georgia where he attended the public schools.  He was united in Holy matrimony to Mrs. Carolyn Graham Goodman on November 27, 1973.  To this union four children were born.  Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Goodman accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior in 1982.  He later joined Alpha & Omega Reformed Missionary Baptist Church, Detroit, Michigan where he served on the usher board.

He exchanged this life for eternal rest on October 24, 2003.  He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife, Mrs. Carolyn Graham Goodman; and five children SFC Carlos (Vanessa) Goodman, of Ft. Bragg, NC, Daria (John) Goodman of Douglas, Gam Ricardo Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia, Tiffani Goodman of Utica, MI and Nayati (Kira) Goodman of Detroit, MI; and eight grandchildren, Christopher, Cortez, Rakeen, Brandon, Zelia, Daja, Ashlon and Deatini; a special daughter Linetha Goodman of Douglas, GA; a loving mother-in-law Mrs. Adell Graham of Douglas GA; one brother Aggie II (Georgia) of Milwaukee WI; five sisters, Louise Graves of Coca Beach FL, Juanita Darby, Lurlyne Williams, Jurell (Windell) Brockington and Shirley Jordan all of Douglas GA; sux aybtsm Vera Goodman, Estelle Lewis,, Lucy Shepherd, Essay Mae Green and Lilie Whitfield all of Milwaukee WI, and Pauline Goodman of Tallahassee FL; one great-aunt, Mattie Grady of Douglas GA; six brothers-in-law, Fisher Pope James Ingraham, Richard Graham, Jerry Graham, Chaucy Graham, and Emmanuel Waire,; four sistes-in-law, Cheryl Graham, Julie Waire, Mary Graham, and Thena Graham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

GOODMAN OTIS -- Mr. Otis Goodman, son of Mr. Aggie Goodman and Mrs Truly Shepherd Goodman was born December 5, 1933 in Coffee County , Georgia .  He received his education in the Coffee County Public Schools.  In 1953 he entered into the United States Army and served for two years.  He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for two years.  In 1960 he married Ms. Martha Mae Thrower, to this union one child was born. 

Mr. Goodman departed this life on Thursday, March 8, 1984 in the V.A. hospital in Augusta , Georgia , following an extended illness.  He is survived by; one son, Mr. Otis Goodman II, of Douglas, Georgia; one step-daughter, Mrs Betty Ellis of N.C.; a loving mother Mrs. Truly Shepherd Goodman of Douglas, GA, and his forther, Mr. Aggie George Goodman of Douglas, GA.; three brothers, Mr. Aggie George Goodman II of Milwaukee, Wisc., Mr. Raymond Goodman of Orlando FL., and Mr.  Johnny L. Goodman of Detroit, Mich.; seven sisters, Mrs. Louise Graves of Cocoa FL., Mrs. Susie  Osborn of Griffin GA., Mrs. Nadine Pope, Mrs. Juanita White, Mrs. Lurlyne Smith, Mrs. Jurell Brock[ington],and Mrs. Shirley Jordan all of DouglasGA.; five brothers-in-law, two sisters-in law, one uncle, six aunts, two great-uncles, three great-aunts, several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.

GREEN, VERA MOON -- Vera Moon Green was funeralized on Sept. 2, 2000 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Parrott, GA. Sister Green was born in Terrell County, Georgia on July 6, 1926. [Mrs. Green was the daughter of the late Bonnie and Emmaline Moon]. She attended the public schools of Terrell County. She was united in matrimony on December 28, 1942 to the late Lemon Green, Sr. who preceded her in death on September 3, 1999.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church before leaving to live in Passaic, N.J.. During her residence in Passaic, she was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years. There she served at a member of the kitchen committee and a member of the Willing Workers Club. She was president of the Willing Workers for over 20 years.

She leaves one daughter, Dorothy Green of Dawson GA; two sons, Obie L. Green of Bloomfield CT, and Lemon Green, Jr., of Passaic NJ; two daughters-in-law, Denise Green of Passaic NJ and Frances Green of Bloomfield CT; one son-in-law, Lt. John H. McKinney, Jr., of Passaic NJ; four sisters, Carrie Lewis, Alma Goolsby, Beatrice Collins, and Ethel Brack all of Dawson GA; one brother, Deacon Charlie Will Moon of Dawson GA; three sisters-in-law, Pearlie Moon of Dawson, Goris Moon and Marie Moon both of Passaic NJ; one brother-in-law, James Collins of Dawson; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

GOODMAN, TRULY SHEPHERD--Mrs. Truly Shepherd Goodman was born November    12, 1912 in Coffee County , Douglas , Georgia .  She was the eldest daughter of Mr. Dennis and Mrs. Rosa Grady Shepherd.  She attended the public schools of Coffee County .  In 1928 she married Mr. Aggie Goodman and to this union twelve children were born.  Two children and husband Aggie preceded her in death.  [Mrs. Goodman died on March 5, 1993 ].

When the Houser of God Saints in Christ was in the pioneer stages, she joined under the pastorate of Elder Love Tucker in the Sunnyside area.  When Mrs. Truly was in good health she served on the Usher Board.  She leaves to cherish her memories ten children: Louise Graves of Coco Beach Florida; Aggie Goodman & Georgia of Milwaukee Wisconsin; Nadine Pope & Fisher of Douglas Georgia; Juanita White & Robert of Douglas Georgia; Lurlyne Williams & Charlie of Douglas Georgia; Raymond Goodman of Orlando Florida; Susie Osborn of Griffin Georgia; Jurell Brockington & Winifred of Douglas Georgia; Johnny Goodman & Carolyn of Detroit Michigan; Shirley Jordan & James of Douglas Georgia; daughter-in-law, Martha Mae Goodman, Douglas Georgia; thirty nine grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; four sisters; Essie Mar Green of Marian Ohio; Lillie Cockfield, Estella Lewis, Vera Goodman of Milwaukee; three aunts Ella Johnson, Geraldine Grady, and Mattie Grady of Douglas Georgia; three sisters-in-law Jean Harper, Lucy Shepherd. And Pauline Brown of Douglas Georgia; a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and endearing friends.
